Veterans Coalition of the Crystal Coast Presents:
Carteret County Veterans Day Parade
Saturday, November 5, 2022.
COVID-19 Disclaimer. Due to the uncertainty of federal, state, and local restrictions, we are planning to go forward with the planning of the 2022 Carteret County Veterans Day Parade with options that might need to be implemented. If all restrictions are lifted, we will be ready to honor our nation’s Veterans with as big a parade as possible. If restrictions are still in place but allow for outdoor functions of this size, we will be ready. If restrictions are in place that prevent such large events, we will be able to down-size to whatever level authorized and provide some sort of recognition for Veterans on this important day. Thank you for your support and understanding.
On behalf of the Veterans Coalition of the Crystal Coast and the over 8,000 veterans of Carteret County, the public is invited to participate in the 2022 Carteret County Veterans Day Parade. The parade will be held in Morehead City on November 5, 2022, starting at 11:00 AM. The parade will start at 17th Street and proceed down Arendell Street in the east-bound lane to 5th Street. The Reviewing Stand will be located between 10th Street and 11th Street at the Train Depot.
This year’s Grand Marshals will be TBD
This parade was established to allow Veterans, Veterans Service Organizations, individuals, and any other group/organization the opportunity to remember and to honor our nation’s Veterans who have proudly served this country. This parade has grown from only a handful of participants to over 2,000 participants honoring our Veterans and is the largest Veterans Day Parade in North Carolina. If you are not participating and would like to see this great parade, please come to downtown Morehead City on Saturday, November 6th to join us in this time-honored event. If you are a participant, please remember that the parade is about honoring Veterans and not about advertising or politics. Participants please see the information below.
Veterans wishing to be a part of this event and would like to join with veterans of a particular era need not complete an entry form, you only have to show up at one of the following locations below on the day of the parade. Please arrive by 10 am. Golf carts and other vehicles will be available for those who wish to ride.

You are responsible for the safe operation of the vehicle and the safety of the spectators near your vehicle! If you are walking with animals, they must be on a leash, and you must clean any messes left by the animal.
As you approach the Reviewing Stand, hold up your position number (paper plate) so the announcer (to your front and right) can see the number. Do not stop in front of the Reviewing Stand. The end of the parade is at 5th St.
Throwing candy is discouraged as it creates an unsafe condition for children in the vicinity of moving vehicles.
Restrooms/Portable Restrooms will be available at St. Egbert’s, St. Egbert’s School Parking Lot, Salvation Army (old location) parking lot, Shevans Park, Shelby’s (staging area for WWII and Korean War Veterans), and at the reviewing stand area.
THANK YOU FOR HONORING OUR VETERANS AND HELPING MAKE THIS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FOR ALL!
Directions for completing parade entry form:
1. Name of Group. Ensure the name you use for your organization is the correct name (e.g., if the official name is NC Cool Cars Club, do not write in Cool Cars of NC. When others try to find you in a long list of participants, they will be looking in the wrong place.).
2. Designator of Group. Include chapter, post, squadron, pack, or troop, etc. as appropriate.
3. City/Town of your Group. Without this some groups may be confused (e.g., Knights of Columbus).
4. Description of entry. When providing a description of vehicles, provide length, height, and width for anything other than a standard sedan/pickup truck/van. Staging space is congested, and many streets have overhead obstacles. By providing as many details as possible on space required for your entry, parade officials can ensure adequate space for your group and vehicles.
Be descriptive as possible (e.g., pickup truck with 15’ float, 5 people on float, 10 walkers)
If unsure of total number of participants or vehicles in group, provide the maximum number you expect to participate. If you state 1 car, you cannot decide later to place 2 cars in the parade. There will not be space for the second car in the staging area.
If you have veterans riding/walking with your group and would like to recognize them, provide a short introduction in the announcer notes section.
If you have a singer or music as part of your float, please check the box so indicating. We want to place distance between you and others that have music so that you will not interfere with each other.
For large animals (harnessed or ridden), the parade staging coordinator will call you (please ensure POC information is correct) to work out the best staging area based upon the size/number of animals. We want to keep the animals and people in the staging area safe.
We encourage all participating organizations/groups to donate $25 (or any amount that you can afford). Donation is not required to participate. Your donation will help offset some of the cost the Carteret County Veteran’s Council incurs each year in organizing the parade. All donations are made through the American Legion Post 46 and are tax exempt.
